KOAN Architecture is an architecture practice based in Helsinki,
Finland, established by Marko Simsiö and Johannes Koskela.
KOAN focuses on sustainable and wooden architecture projects on different scales. The practice has designed a large variety of wooden buildings and areas for dwelling, leisure, and public use in Finland and abroad. We design anything from large-scale areas to public buildings and private homes.
Our design ideology is strongly human-oriented. We want to solve things in a contemporary way, retaining respect for tradition and context. For the best results, we believe it is important to work in active collaboration with the client and other participants in each project.
